How to Write About Travel
Continued from page 4

Web sites

Writing for the Web is like writing for print media, with a few special rules to enhance readability on a computer screen:

  • Keep paragraphs short.
  • Use bullet points where appropriate.
  • Use page breaks where necessary to avoid excessive scrolling.

Whenever practical, link to other content: not just on your Web site, but also on other sites when doing so will provide more information to the reader. If you're writing an article on Paris, for example, you might link to the Parie Web guide or the Paris Pictures at my Europe travel site. This will provide added value to the reader without requiring any more work on your part.
